vocabulary words

Call me crazy, but I love learning new words and incorporating them into my vocabulary. I have to admit though, this doesn’t happen frequently. Usually because I can’t remember the new word or how to use it appropriately. But, when did cancer enter my personal lexicon? A one-time shunned word. Rarely spoken and even then, it was always in reference to someone else. Always some other unfortunate person. What a tragedy. My heart goes out to them and their family. Now, it seems I can’t stop saying it, like I have a sick obsession with weaving it into every single conversation I have. Hey, how are you? What have you been up to? When I say the word it feels like how I would imagine barbed wire feels when lacerating the skin. Oh, just having cancer. I feel it my chest. Before I was diagnosed with cancer…It hurts. I didn’t make it because I was undergoing treatment for cancer. It burns. It’s not a hair cut, it’s cancer. It stings.
